COMEBACK CIRCLEINTERACTIVE MAP Comeback Circle is an interactive mapdesigned to transform the tedious waiting time at busy restaurants and cafes into an opportunity for exploration. Instead of just standing in line, this installation guides waiting customers to nearby spots they can visit and return from within their estimated wait time.
Users can simply rotate the knob at the bottom to select their available time. The map then illuminates reachable locations that fit within that specific timeframe, eliminating the hassle of manually searching and comparing places on a mobile phone.
This specific prototype is set in Seongsu-dong. It categorizes nearby locations into 15 distance levels (ranging from 1 to 15 minutes). LEDs highlight the locations on the map, while a categorized list at the bottom (Cafes on the left, Shopping spots on the right) enhances readability and intuition.
The installation operates on an Arduino Mega, utilizing four 4-channel MOSFETs to control the lighting system. The visual display is composed of approximately 40 units of 3mm LEDs and 30 units of square 5mm LEDs, which are used to illuminate the map locations and indicators.
